Stavros Antonopoulos

Stavros Antonopoulos (b. 1962 in Nicosia, Cyprus), where he lives and works.
He studied Fine Arts at Florence Academy of Fine Art (1981-85), and Fashion Design at fashion school in Florence (1982-84).  From 1988 to 1990 he completed his studies in theatre scenography at the Sorbonne. He won the awards Premio Internationale d'arte Moderna, Florence and Prix Matisse from the Embassy of France, Nicosia. From 1983 to 2000 he had solo exhibitions at Gallery Gloria, Nicosia, Gallery Morphi, Limassol, Galleria 'Il Punto', Florence and Cité Des Arts, Paris. In addition he participated in group exhibitions among which 'Twelve Cypriot Artists', Gallery Gloria at Ioannina City Council, Ioannina, Greece (2000); Quatrennale of Scenographic and Costume Design, Prague (1999); Seven Cypriot Artists, London (1996); Biennale of Alexandria (1994), L'Exposition du Bicentenaire, Paris (1990); Biennale of Young Artists, Barcelona / Five Cypriot artists, Cologne (1987); and Biennale of Young Artists, Marseille (1986).
