In his ceramic female representations, the feminine provocation is captured, as it is presented through the intense makeup of the faces, the painted lips and nails, the colorful bracelets and rings, their hair and the almost non-existent clothes, often revealing mainly the female breasts. The artist, through his sensual “women”, manages to emerge as a talented creator with spirituality, insight, observation and humor, recognizing the obvious satisfaction of someone when holding the role of voyeur.
In fact, some of Michaelides' female sculptures, with their posture and their discreetly open legs, remind us of something of the basic instinct and the iconic scene in which Sharon Stone provocatively crosses and uncrosses her legs in front of the police force without wearing underwear.
It is a surprise exhibition of great interest and one that those who have seen works by Dinos Michaelides in his previous exhibitions are eagerly awaiting to visit. It is an exhibition that is truly worth seeing.
