Abstract and figurative elements are often combined in his works, which are devoted to the study of identity, the cultures of different ethnicities and human experience. Sacaillan became predominantly recognized with his unique portraits, which went on to be referred to as “Spectator” among the circle of artists. In his vivid paintings, spectators of different identities, ages and gender are portrayed side-by-side and are looking at us, just like we are looking at them. With this, the artist shows that each of us can be in the role of the character portrayed in the particular painting.
Greek-Armenian artist Edouard Sacaillan has been granted several awards, including the Painting Prize at the 18th Biennale of Alexandria. Throughout the years, he has participated in several international exhibitions, and over 40 personal exhibitions have been held in his honor, thanks to which Sacaillan has received high acclaim by Greek and international artists.
